UNDERSTANDING GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
An index for GBV related incidents.

WHAT IS GBV?
Gender Based Violence is one of the most common and widespread human rights abuses in South Africa, with many survivors never reporting or seeking help. For too long, GBV has been misguided and misunderstood across the globe.

Every day persons living with GBV are physically, psychologically, financially and sexually assaulted; manipulated; threatened and humiliated. In many instances these acts of violence are inflicted in places of safety, like the home or workplace, and they are committed most often by loved ones of the survivors such as spouse, life partners and/or family members or even colleagues.
